Music Video for Tihane – ‘Aint that a Bitch’

This music video all happened so fast it was incredible. The original idea was to have the artist occasionally go Black & White, but keep the blood vivid red. However, when cropping the various comp layers, it became clear we had an opportunity to try something new.

Having the artist occasionally step out of the frame, and having the aspect ratio subtly change throughout the video was a real fun aspect.

Of course, this led to other choices; On the day of filming there was a heavy fog, and the monochromatic nature of the shot led us to exploring the idea of the background being white for the opening section.

Of course, we didn’t plan for this, as I would have shot it differently. Whilst we used used modern roto tools to do a lot of the grunt work, the artist was wearing tan boots, on a very dry tan dirt road, so there was a LOT of manual roto happening.

Along with removing people walking in the background, we also spent time re-coloring the background a little as this was filmed right before the fires and everything was very dry & brown.
