“The creative process is what drives me –

I enjoy the journey of creating ideas, developing them, and executing them.”

Cris is an Emmy-nominated director with a career spanning over 30 years across commercials, television, and documentaries. He brings deep expertise in 2D/3D animation, VFX direction and supervision, creative direction, and on-set supervision. Known as an industry pioneer, Cris blends technical precision with artistic innovation.

Originally from Scotland, his global career has taken him from the UK’s legendary Team17 game studio, to a 12-year run in Los Angeles at the most notable VFX companies, founding his own production company in LA , followed by nearly a decade in Kenya founding a Nairobi based creative studio. He returned to LA in 2019 – still pushing boundaries and stirring things up, and always trying the newest tech and seeing where and how it can fit into any art and creation.

Cris co-founded What’s Good Studios (WGS) in Nairobi, which became East Africa’s leading digital-content studio over the course of nearly a decade. WGS created commercials, TV shows, films, and youth-driven programming for global and regional brands, while also serving as a creative incubator that trained and mentored the next generation of African filmmakers.

Strategic offshoots—including What’s Good Networks, WG-Radio, and WG-Live—helped build a wider ecosystem that amplified African urban culture and supported live events, music, and digital storytelling. Their collaboration with REVOLT on the What’s Good Africa TV series in both Kenya and Ghana editions brought this cultural narrative to international audiences.

In addition to its commercial work—spanning TVCs, digital campaigns, livestreams, and social series—WGS was known for its in-house 2D/3D, VFX, and real-time production pipelines. The studio earned multiple regional digital-media awards and is frequently cited as both a launchpad for young African talent and a creative force in reshaping Africa’s media landscape.

When he’s not working, you’ll probably find him in his workshop on a project, or here in his ‘Man Cave’, creating music, some of which you might hear in his commercials.

I’ve always been a huge fan of the Fairlight CMI, and at the beginning of covid, the circumstances occured that I felt compelled to build a Fairlight CMI out of the core of another machine.. This has led to all sorts of amazing things happening. So, I documented me building this crazy machine.
